God Bless America

Hi Everyone! As we remembered the lives lost on 9/11/01, we also celebrated the freedom America gives us. At H Frank Carey's opening football game Caitlin sang God Bless America, Louie read a poem, and our principal spoke of the loss of live in our country and community. The marching band played beautifully, the Pirettes held red, white and blue balloons in addition to the school colors. The clear weather reminded us of that day nine years ago.
The cheerleaders were athletic, and made the Carey "Crazies" even louder! The fans in the stands always have fun. Dawn and I smiled big for the camera! The band sounded great. Our dance team performed beautifully! We can't wait to see their full out dance at the next home game. They only performed their POM because at half-time the 5 and 6 year old Warrior teams put on a show! Break out TDs for both sides! The crowd cheered and we all laughed!
The team beat New Hyde Park and everyone got to play. Thanks to the Bove Family for hosting the dinner the night before the game.
Vincent is # 52!
Victoria is the seventh from the back when they lined up on the field. The Pirettes Dance Team have white long sleeves, the cheerleaders have orange.
A beautiful start to the season.

Shipping with Chip, Chris and Flash! Thanks to our tour guides as they explained the importance and safety of loading horses for transport. We appreciate their patience and a real live experience as Flash almost loaded herself! LOL! They even let us play on their jumps. We had a great time!

My Educational Philosophy

Everyday, educators must face the day-to-day process of the American education system. I believe in a system that allows educators to implement a creative, holistic approach to education, which encourages students to become life long learners. As John Dewey believed that “Education is life itself,” I too, believe in and enjoy the experience of the learning process.

As a student advocate, my role as an educator has many aspects. Teachers need to be constant students of technology, world events and governmental policies. Successful teachers need to be able to be approachable listeners and articulate speakers who have the resources to contribute to the community in which they teach. Today’s supportive educational environment allows students to see their teachers as active adult role models. The immersion of teachers in the community and family lives of their students fosters relationships that build foundations of commitment and trust, where learning is able to take place.

When speaking to students, teachers must provide honest and forthright answers to the questions they have been asked. A clear set of expectations for the students’ learning outcomes needs to be understood by all concerned. Through field trips, the application of new technology, and world-wide communication, classrooms gain exposure to the wealth of cultures and experiences around us. High expectations at the beginning of ever day and praise for a job well done at its end are part of the support system that must be built into classrooms.

All students deserve an education designed to meet their individual needs. Through differentiation of instruction, learning centers, and the understanding of multiple intelligences, my classroom will allow all students to strive to reach their full potential. In this way, my students will be taught to use their strengths to challenge themselves and those around them. This type of learning space will provide the opportunity for students to gain self-confidence by continuing to fulfill their individual goals, while working as a community to further the academic levels of all students. My dedication to teaching includes my own commitment to continuing my education through professional development. This will expand my capability for identifying, understanding, and meeting the needs of our diverse student population.

Successful elementary school experiences inspire intellectual curiosity for life-long learners. It helps students discover that self-challenge leads to growth. I believe that administrators, teachers, parents, and students must all develop their own intrinsic motivation to provide the education that every student deserves.
